Auricular Flutter

چکیده
Auricular flutter was first described by McWilliam in 1887 (Mackenzie, 1925) as a result of experimental stimulation. Ritchie (1905) obtained graphic records from the jugular vein, and Jolly and Ritchie (1908) (Mackenzie, loc. cit.) took electrocardiographic tracings from one of Ritchie's cases of auricular flutter. Mackenzie looking back through his old records found cases of auricular flutter which went on to auricular fibrillation. The condition then

The Relation of the Auricular Activity following Faradization of the Dog's Auricle to Abnormal Auricular Activity in Man
The tumultuous auricular activity which follows faradization of the auricles of mammals and which has been variously described, could be distinctly seen to consist almost constantly in our experiments on dogs of true fibrillatory movements of the separate muscle fibers coëxisting with a rapid auricular tachycardia. During peripheral stimulation of the right vagus nerve the true fibrillation alo...
متن کاملClinical studies on the nature of the auricular flutter.
(Received for publication, February 13, 1956) It is widely known, that there are two different theories concerning the nature of the auricular flutter ; namely the ectopic theory and cirucus movement theory. In the previous papers' ),Q ) we attempted to clarify this problem experimentally and reported that the electrically induced auricular flutter is differed from the aconitine-induced flutter...
متن کاملThe Mechanism of Auricular Flutter and Auricular Fibrillation
A DISCUSSION of the mechaniism of auricular flutter or fibrillation requires first a precise definition of what is meant by those terms. They were coined originally to designate more or less characteristic clinical syndromes, but they are now applied loosely to a heterogeneous group of experimental results that may bear only a superficial resemblance to those syndromes. Thus, it is possible to ...
متن کاملAconitine - Induced Auricular Arrhythmias and Their Relation to Circus - Movement Flutter By BARBARA
Certain characteristics of aconitine-induced auricular arrhythmias in dogs and the responses of aconitine-induced flutter to various experimental procedures and to drugs are described. In certain experiments there was evidence that a secondary flutter mechanism had developed which, in some instances, resembled flutter of circus-movement origin. When aconitine-induced and circus-movement flutter...
متن کاملProcaine amide therapy in auricular flutter with 1:1 A-V conduction.
Procaine amide hydrochloride was first introduced clinically by Mark et al. (1950). They drew attention to its effectiveness in the control of ventricular arrhythmias, especially paroxysmal ventricular tachycardia. This has since been amply confirmed. It is the drug of choice in the treatment of paroxysmal ventricular tachycardia, taking precedence over the more toxic and unpredictable quinidin...
